О мероприятии

The seminar will focus on the emerging role of microbiome science and microbial biotechnology in the development of sustainable and highly productive shrimp aquaculture. Intensive shrimp farming represents a complex biological system in which shrimp health and productivity are closely connected with the microbial communities of the gastrointestinal tract, water, sediments, and accumulated organic waste. Understanding and managing these interconnected microbiomes provides new opportunities to simultaneously address environmental degradation and improve aquaculture performance.

The seminar will bring together researchers working in microbiome science, aquaculture, environmental biotechnology, and microbial ecology to discuss integrated approaches to the shrimp–water–sediment ecosystem. Particular attention will be given to the characterization of shrimp-associated and environmental microbiomes using modern sequencing and metagenomic technologies; identification of microbial and functional biomarkers associated with shrimp growth, feed conversion efficiency, survival, and disease resistance; and isolation of beneficial microorganisms with probiotic, bioremediation, and pathogen-control properties.

A major focus will be placed on the development of functional microbial consortia and next-generation probiotics for improving shrimp health and productivity, controlling Vibrio and other aquaculture pathogens, accelerating organic matter degradation, and reducing the accumulation of ammonia, nitrite, hydrogen sulfide, and other undesirable metabolites in water and sediments. The potential role of microbiome-based approaches in controlling harmful algal blooms will also be discussed.

The seminar will additionally explore the integration of functional microbiomes with biochar, microbial carriers, environmental monitoring, and predictive modeling. The ultimate goal is to establish a microbiome-driven framework in which sediment restoration, waste bioconversion, water quality, disease prevention, and shrimp productivity are managed as interconnected components of a single sustainable aquaculture system, providing a scientific basis for circular and green economy models in shrimp farming.
